Car Rentals in Hawaiʻi: GoVibe Welcomes Travelers from Korea!
Welcome to Hawaiʻi! If you are visiting from Korea, you will find a second home here. Our islands see more than 200,000 travelers from Korea each year. Some signs are in Hangul, and some staff at sightseeing locations also speak Korean.
The island of Oahu offers beautiful beaches, stunning mountain views, and energizing culture, but the best way to see it all is by car. GoVibe makes car rentals in Hawaiʻi easy—you can book online from Korea!
How to Rent a Car in Hawaiʻi When Coming From Korea
All Korean visitors must have an International Driving Permit (IDP) to operate a car. You must obtain this permit in Korea before you travel. You cannot get an IDP in the US.
Getting an IDP is very easy. You need to visit a regional driver’s license examination office. There is an IDP service office at Incheon International Airport.
The fee is 8,500 won, and it takes about an hour to process. When you apply, be sure to bring:
- Your valid Korean driver’s license (for the duration of your trip)
- A 3.5 x 4.5 cm photo (you can usually take this at a photo machine)
- Your passport
Your IDP is good for 1 year. When you rent a car in Hawaiʻi or use your IDP, you must have your Korean driver’s permit with you. Also, remember that you must be 25 years old or older to rent a car in Hawaiʻi.

Most importantly, we can advise you on the best car for you to rent in Hawaiʻi from Korea. Explore our different vehicle options, ranging from compact sedans to full-size SUVs.
While you’re visiting, here are some of our favorite things to do:
Hike Diamond Head Crater - This iconic landmark is one of the best-known places in Hawaiʻi. The hike up is a moderate difficulty, and the views of the island are breathtaking. Explore the unique geology of a volcanic crater.
Explore Waikiki - Waikiki is the cultural and commercial center of Honolulu. Start your day at the beach by swimming or learning to surf, then spend the afternoon shopping. Many stores will ship your purchases back to Korea so you don’t have to carry them on the plane. With your rental car, it is easy to reach nearby attractions in the city like the zoo or aquarium.
Eat Poke - Raw chopped fish marinated in a mix of sesame oil, soy sauce, green onions, and other spices make this popular local dish. It’s also served over rice. Many restaurants offer spicy options, so you can try a Hawaiian bibimbap!
To make the most of your time in Hawaiʻi, we recommend renting a car to get around the island. GoVibe makes it easy to manage your car rental on our app, and our customer service team is available to help with any problems during your stay.
